Next Batavia River Cleanup: Saturday, May 15, 2010
8:30 AM - Noon Meet at Parking Lot on Rt. 25, by Island Park & Skate Park

Local groups are encouraged to organize and join in this effort. Trash bags supplied. Bring work gloves and dress appropriately. A few canoes are needed and volunteers experienced in removal of trash from the river.
Those with waders should bring them.

PLEASE NOTE: All participants will be asked to sign a waiver form. We will have them at the cleanup

This river cleanup is being support by an IEPA SCALE grant

Our great thanks to the 150 volunteers of all ages who participated in our May 16th Fox River Cleanup!

Our volunteers represented the following groups: NICOR, Batavia Robotics, Batavia Youth Baseball 12 Gold Travel Team, Albright Theatre, Batavia High School students, Rotolo Middle School students, Gustafson Cub Scout Den,
a 13-Year Old's Birthday Party group, plus many individuals and families!

The Batavia Youth Baseball 12 Gold Travel Team volunteers found a sad example about how others can abuse our valuable resource - The Fox River. They found a dumping ground on the banks of the Fox for all these used oil filters that were leaking into the river - which is used as drinking water for both Elgin and Aurora!
